Levitra

Levitra is an oral medication intended for the symptomatic treatment of erectile dysfunction.

Pharmacological properties

The active substance of Levitra is vardenafil, a PDE-5 inhibitor. It affects the natural physiological processes that start when sexual arousal occurs, stimulates blood flow to the tissues of the penis by activating the release of nitric oxide and expanding the walls of blood vessels.

Take 1 pill 30-40 minutes before the planned sexual intercourse. In the presence of sexual stimulation, a man achieves a hard erection, which can be maintained for a rather long time – about 7-8 hours or longer.

Instructions for use

Take the drug as directed by a doctor. The daily dose should not exceed 20 mg of vardenafil. The initial recommended dose is 10 mg of vardenafil. Do not exceed the recommended daily dosage.

The drug can be taken regardless of meals but fatty foods can slow down its effect.

Side effects

If you use Levitra correctly and do not exceed the dosage, the likelihood of side effects is very small. In 97% of cases, the side effects pass quickly and do not cause discomfort. The most common side effects of Levitra include: headache, dizziness, nausea, nasal congestion, tinnitus.

Contraindications

  • Women and minor children;
  • Severe diseases of the liver and kidneys;
  • Penile deformity;
  • Hypotension;
  • Recent heart attack or stroke;
  • Narrowing of the aorta.

The drug is prescribed with caution to men with diseases of the heart, stomach, eyes.

Drug interactions

Do not combine vardenafil with alpha-adrenergic blocking agents, itraconazole, erythromycin and ketoconazole.

ATTENTION! The simultaneous administration of Levitra with donors of nitric oxide and drugs containing nitrates in any form is dangerous to health.

Use with indinavir and ritonavir is also contraindicated.

Compatibility with alcohol

Alcohol can weaken the effect of the drug due to the fact that the liver primarily processes ethanol. As a result, alcohol greatly reduces the effectiveness of the drug and it can also cause discomfort and pain in the right side and in the lower back. In addition, a man may experience general malaise, nausea and headache. Despite this, Levitra and alcohol are compatible but only on the condition that alcohol is consumed in small quantities.
